Re-Value at Climate Neutral Blue Cities by 2030 Conference in Limassol

On 19-20 March 2026, the Climate Neutral Blue Cities by 2030: Accelerating Local Change conference will bring together European city leaders, policymakers and experts in Limassol to discuss how port and coastal cities can move faster toward climate neutrality. The event is organised by the Municipality of Limassol within the framework of the EU Mission for 100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities by 2030 and supported by the EU Mission Restore our Ocean and Waters.
The Re-Value project will contribute to two panel discussions during the conference programme.
On 19 March, Mathijs Goderis, First Alderman (Deputy Mayor) of the City of Bruges, and Adrian Craciun, Coordinator of the Constanța Metropolitan Area Association, will join the panel “Port and Coastal Cities at the Frontline of Climate Action and Maritime Restoration.” The discussion will focus on how coastal and port cities are addressing climate action while supporting maritime ecosystems and sustainable urban development and will take place from 9:30 to 11:00.
On 20 March, Re-Value will also take part in the panel “Advancing Inclusive and Climate-Neutral Neighbourhoods: Energy Justice, Public Space and the New European Bauhaus.” The session will be moderated by Annemie Wyckmans, Professor at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and coordinator of the Re-Value project. Among the speakers is Lies Debbaut, Re-Value Project Manager and Policy Officer for District Heating at the City of Bruges, who will share insights on the role of neighbourhood planning, public space and energy systems in the transition to climate-neutral districts.
The conference addresses key topics including port and city decarbonisation, sustainable mobility, renewable energy systems, coastal resilience, social cohesion and integrated urban planning. By contributing to these discussions, Re-Value continues to share experiences from its partner cities and support cooperation among European waterfront cities working toward climate-neutral futures.
