Constanța Casino's Restoration: A Historic Treasure Revived for the Future

The Constanța Casino, a historic architectural gem on the Black Sea coast, is nearing the completion of its extensive restoration. Originally inaugurated in 1910, the building has stood as a symbol of elegance and cultural significance for over a century. Through collaboration between central and local authorities, as well as partners involved in the Re-Value project, this effort ensures the Casino’s revival as a key heritage site, bridging tradition and sustainable innovation.

Restoration work, which began in 2020, is now in its final phase. The interior is fully renovated, while exterior finishing touches are underway. Structural reinforcements, modernization of thermal, electrical, and ventilation systems, and restoration of artistic elements have been carried out with meticulous attention to historical accuracy. To enhance durability and environmental sustainability, self-cleaning decorative plaster, energy-efficient heating systems, and marine-resistant materials have been integrated into the project.

The area surrounding the Casino is also benefiting from improvements. A collaboration with the National Administration "Romanian Waters" has led to the construction of a breakwater, designed to mitigate wave impact and protect the coastline. Plans for a diving center and an artificial reef in the Black Sea further support marine biodiversity and eco-tourism.

Constanța municipality has played a crucial role in complementing these efforts, contributing to landscaping the external terrace, reinforcing the retaining wall, and upgrading the surrounding infrastructure. These actions highlight the commitment to preserving cultural heritage while ensuring the space remains functional and engaging for future generations.
