2.5 Years of Re-Value in 9 Waterfront Cities
This video captures nearly three years of experimentation, creativity, and climate-focused transformation across 9 waterfront cities. From reimagining streets and buildings to hands-on community engagement, it highlights two Re-Value activities in each of the cities.
In Ålesund, a parking lot became a lively park and a warehouse turned into a skatepark. Bruges sparked community spirit with seasonal engagement and hands-on design workshops. Písek turned everyday spaces into moments of joy and participation, inviting residents to shape their city.
Constanța is reclaiming its historic waterfront and activating new spaces in the Peninsula District. In Burgas, digital terrain modelling and nature-based planning bring fresh ideas to future green areas. Izmir blends visual art and urban exploration through a participatory photo project in Kültürpark. Rimini redesigned its coast with open public spaces that double as climate protection. Rijeka transformed an old industrial site into a modern library and community hub. And in Cascais, sea waste becomes art, while local Energy Cafés get people talking about climate and everyday solutions.
Through Re-Value, these cities are showing how urban planning and design can reshape places, connect communities, and support a just transition to climate neutrality.
