Barbara Caen, Religious Heritage Researcher, presented the Visit Flanders tourism strategy, deployed across pilot sites in Flanders, with a particular focus on St. Godelieve Abbey in the heart of Bruges. Reopened in 2021, the site embraced a participatory approach to shaping its future activities and programming. With over 15,000 visitors—including heritage experts, architects, entrepreneurs, and engaged individuals—the initiative generated 5,000 valuable and applicable ideas.

This presentation was part of the Re-Value Round "Governance and Regulatory Structures Innovation" hosted by Stad Brugge and ICLEI Europe. The Re-Value Rounds are online events organised by ICLEI Europe to inspire and build capacity as part of the EU-funded Re-Value project.
