Shaping the Future of Heritage: Join INHERIT’s Multi-Stakeholder Forum
Cultural and industrial heritage sites have great potential for sustainable transformation. However, making the most of them requires a collaborative approach. The INHERIT project is working to promote energy optimisation of heritage buildings in a participatory and multidisciplinary way, bringing together experts, policymakers, and local actors to develop solutions that balance economic, social, and environmental sustainability.
To support foster this exchange, INHERIT has launched the Multi-Stakeholder Forum (MSF), a dedicated space for dialogue and collaboration. The MSF launch event, held in October 2024, brought together over 80 participants from various sectors, including heritage, urban planning, and policy-making. The discussion focused on how to align the management of heritage buildings and public spaces with the principles of the New European Bauhaus framework, integrating retrofitting, renovation and replanning into practice. Participants explored best practices that embed cultural heritage within broader social and environmental transformation strategies.
The MSF remains open to new members interested in contributing to this conversation. By joining, participants gain access to expert insights, resources, and networking opportunities. A recording of the launch event is available for all registered members.
Alongside the MSF, INHERIT has also launched a new video series, "Roots and Future of European Cultural Heritage”, exploring next-generation solutions for heritage buildings across Europe. The first episode features the Greek pilot building hosting ELLET (Elliniki Etairia - Society for the Environmental and Cultural Heritage). ELLET focuses on enhancing the energy performance of traditional buildings while respecting their historical and architectural value, using smart meters, sensors, and GIS-based tools for sustainable heritage maintenance in Athens, Greece. This video series complements the MSF discussions, offering real-world examples of innovative approaches to renovation.
